Q: Our travel agent offered us a great deal on MSC Rhapsody for Sept 2008 and wondering of others' experiences with this vessel? Particulary in terms of:
1. Stability. It's a smaller, older ship. Our cabin would be on Deck 2 about mid-way between front and middle. (Bonus: how is the Mediterranean in early Fall?)
2. I've heard it could be noisy at this level, any experiences?
3. Good food???
4. How were the excursions, in terms of organization and English translation?

The first is the most important --- we are both nervous about being seasick for 7-days and nights.

Cheers,
Markus

I have done 2 MSC's but not on Rhapsody. Firstly you would be unlucky to encounter poor weather in the Med at early fall. The Med is almost a giant lake so seasickness is hardly worth considering. Most older ships suffer noise/vibrations at the rear (think propeller shafts) so unless anyone has first hand experience it's difficult to comment. Food on MSC: If you've never cruised before you may well be satisfied. There's nothing wrong with it, it's just unremarkable IMO & many others who have reviewed MSC. Excursions: I never do them so can only pass on what others have commented on whilst on board & on this site. MSC attracts a large Italian & German contingent, so depending how many English speaking people are on a tour determines how much English is spoken! Sorry if I come across on the negative side, but MSC are a 'Value' line & have to be judged in that context.

Well not found any bad reviews it is a budget priced ship built in 1977 and was refitted in 1997 was previously owned by Cunard and was called Princess/Conquest before being sold. Both the food and entertainment get good reviews and most speak of great italian hospitality. There are no negative views on noises on the ship from vibration and being builr initially for Cunard has a good pedigree wait and see if any others comment further. She takes 800/850 passengers with a crew to passenger ration of around 2.3
