MSC Takes Inspiration From Traditional When Looking Forward

MSC Orchestra

MSC Cruises will be welcoming another sister into their fleet come May, and to celebrate the launch of the luxurious MSC Orchestra, MSC showed off its outstanding Maritime tradition as the world’s largest privately owned shipping line.

The MSC Orchestra will be launched in the Italian port of Civitavecchia to depart on her maiden voyage on the 15th of May 2007.  The send-off party will include actress Sophia Loren, the MSC Cruise fleet’s ‘Godmother’.

“It’ll be a great three-day party event,” Lynne Clarke, MSC Cruises General Manager Australia and New Zealand, “so in 2009, with 11 ships, we’ll be able to offer one million berths and this further strengthens our position as a European market leader.

MSC hopes that the cruise lines can learn from the development of their cargo lines, because even though their cruise line is growing at an incredible rate - adding a new ship into the fleet each year - the cargo line sees a new ship each month.

The luxury of the MSC Orchestra does set it apart from its cargo ships though.  With amenities that include five restaurants, ten bars, a Turkish bath, golf simulator, and a child-only pool, the cruise-line also offers a four in five chance your berth will be in an outside cabin.

With a dedication to the Mediterranean, Ms Clarke concludes “It’s really our style, ambiance and hospitality that combines all that is beautiful, Italian and passionate.”
