Cheap,nasty and poor

I have just returned from an MSC cruise on the Armonia.
I would warn any one from the UK to think seriously before using this company.
1. The food was appaling.

2. The so called entertainment was pathetic. The same 6 girls and 2 boys danced every night. I was bored out of my skull.

3. Some stop off points we were only given 4 hours to get out of the port and look round the country we had stopped off at. One day we had to wait 2 hours to get off ship. The organisation on board was appalling.

4. We waited 2 days before we were given the emergency drill. And during that time they had a photographer taking pictures of us with our life jackets on.

5 The food was awful.Usually cold. The service was bad and the waiters ran around like headless chickens doing god knows what.

6.The wine and drinks were very expensive. Everytime we got off the boat our bags were checked for alcohol as you coudnt have any other drinks apart from the ones bought on ship.

7. Room service was pathetic I asked for some water one day and our cabin attendent lost his temper and said he was very busy????

8. Be aware there Are no English television programmes on TV apart from 1 news channel. The Free movies were the same for the whole 10 days. At one point a Childrens film The bee movie was on at 3am in the morning. And later on that day at 6pm at totally inappropriate adult film was relayed .

9. There is no cash exchange on the ship. We were told to sort it out our self after getting off the ship.

10. This ship is very much an Italian ship run by Italians for Italians. I have no grudge what so ever with the Italians, but you do need to be aware of this.

11.The onboard entertainment for the children was very badly organised. my son was quite out on a limb most of the time.

12. I could have complained about most things on this ship, but I would never have been away from reception. I have been on cruises before but have never experienced a cruise like it BEWARE

I was on board the MSC armonia in the second half of August. I agree the photography at the lifeboat drill was in poor taste. However as for the time of the drill, many passengers did not board until Amsterdam, i wouldnt have wanted to do the drill twice or three times to catch all of the boarders. My only complaint about the food was that some was too salty. The tours we went on were well organised and the crew were extremely helpful at all times. Our three teenage children found plenty to amuse themselves during the time they were on board. I didnt rate the entertainment crew but didnt choose to go to all of the shows, I thought they seemed to work hard though. I thought the one quiz we attended amusing. the classical duo were my favourite and extremely good. Sounds like you were unlucky in many respects. I have holidayed on the Oriana and Arcadia several times and I would say that apart from the Oriana's maiden season the Armonia was quite comparable but considerably cheaper.

Thankyou for your comments.I am sure my son would have felt better if he had siblings with him. But as an only child he needed to be guided by the kids club to help him make friends, with predominantly Italian/German children he felt uncomfatble and slightly anxious as he was in the minority. He often went to the kids club to find it closed. As he was only 11 he couldnt really go wandering round the boat.
